We lost a fence, but saved our house!

This afternoon Brett, Reed, and I were just enjoying each other's company when we noticed our neighbor was burning the ditches behind our house. We didn't think anything of it until we noticed the amount of smoke coming from the fire had significantly increased over the period of 5 minutes. Brett decided he better go take a look at things behind our house and just make sure the farmer was aware of our yard and the vinal fence that goes around our property. Brett was outside for maybe a minute before he came running into the house to grab his boots and tell me the fire had spread into our backyard.
I ran out the back door and saw the flames coming towards my house after melting our vinal fence. The old farmer was apologizing about our fence and trying to put out the flames with two small buckets of water. Luckily my mom and dad stopped by to visit us so while Brett was grabbing our hose, my dad was working on the fire with a shovel. You should have seen it. My parents had just come from the temple and my dad was outside in his church clothes fighting fires. My mom took care of Reed while I called 911 to get the fire department to come over and save my house.

After the help of 3 fire trucks and many wonderful and concerned neighbors, we were able to put out the fire that had spread through the fields behind our house. We may have lost a fence, but atleast we still have a house. I'm just grateful we were home when all this happened. Our neighbor that was buring his fields is older and you could tell he was in shock during this whole event. I don't know if he would have called for help or just kept on trying to put out the fire with his 2 buckets.
